Signs of the season
I get a lovely call from the day care yesterday around 4:15 (my heart still races when I see that number on caller ID) asking me if Aubrey has allergies. Um, no, she's 13 months old, is that possible? The teacher proceeds to tell me when Aubrey woke up from her nap, her eyes were matted shut with gunk. Great... I told her they were a little gross that morning, but not a big deal. She says no kids have had pink eye lately, but that's really what it looks like. Even freakin better. Since it was so late in the day, I told them Todd would be there soon to get her and I'd check it out when I got home. Todd picks her up and calls me and says her eyelids are pretty swollen and watery. When I get home, it amazes me how puffy her eyes were. And watery was an understatement. There was all kinds of nastiness coming out of her eyes by this point and I was a little worried. She didn't act like they bothered her, but it just looked awful. So, we get up this morning and her eyes weren't nearly as puffy, but her eye lashes were full of gunk. Not cool. And she had dark red circles under her eyes, so I knew I had to take her to the doctor. I scheduled the appointment and off we went. Her doctor asked 2 questions before handing out the dreaded diagnosis: ALLERGIES. Freakin' fantastic. So, she loaded us up with some samples before sending us on our merry way. So now we have to try out various kinds of meds to see which works best or which she will take best. I am pretty frustrated at this point because I hate knowing what she may have to deal with the rest of her life. Todd has pretty yucky allergies and I hate knowing she might be that miserable. Hopefully these meds can work and we can minimize the effects on her.
